Indian indices-

The benchmark indices staged a significant recovery on January 30 after a gap-down opening. Investors were initially cautious ahead of the Union Budget 2026, which will be presented this February 1. The Metal and IT sectors were the biggest drags. At close, the Sensex was down 296.59 points or 0.36% at 82,269.78, and the Nifty was down 98.25 points or 0.39% at 25,320.65.

Rupee ended at 91.98/$ against January 29 close of 91.96/$.

Buzzing stocks on BSE-

1. South Indian Bank fell 15.11% to Rs. 37.58, as MD & CEO P R Seshadri to step down after current term.

2. Dixon Technologies India rose by 1.03% to Rs. 10,444.80, after its net profit zoomed 67.8% YoY to Rs. 287.3 crore in Q3 FY26 Vs. Rs. 171.2 crore over Q3 FY25.

3. Nippon Life India Asset Management advanced by 1.30% to Rs. 871.15, after company net profit surged 36.7% YoY to Rs. 403.9 crore in Q3 FY26 as against Rs 295.4 crore over Q3 FY25.

4. Arvind gained 5.76% to Rs. 314.70, after company net profit gained 5.6% YoY at Rs. 97.6 Cr for the Quarter ended December 31, 2025, against Quarter ended December 31, 2024, at Rs. 103.4 Cr.

5. Cochin Shipyard surged 3.08% to Rs. 1,659.85, as it won up to Rs. 250 crore green tug order from Polestar Maritime.

Global Signals-

Asia-Pacific stock markets mostly fell, tracking losses overnight in the S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq.

European stocks moved higher as international relations and corporate earnings remained in focus.
