Market Report- Sensex gains 200 points, Nifty at 24,850

The benchmark indices were trading higher on February 02, 2026. Indian markets opened in red but soon it turned green. The support was led by buying among index heavyweights. At 9.26 am, Sensex rose by 0.24% or 206 points to 80,911. The Nifty gained 0.12% or 31 points to 24,850.

In a special Budget 2026 session held on February 1, Indian benchmarks crashed following the announcement after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a hike in securities transaction tax (STT) on futures and options in her Budget 2026 speech, sparking a sharp sell-off during the Budget weekend session.

Rupee opens at 91.76/$ Vs. January 30, 2026, close of 91.98/$, strengthens by 22 paise against US Dollar.
