Indian indices-

Indian equity benchmarks ended lower on August 24, 2026, as selling pressure across most sectors dampened investor sentiment. The broader market witnessed profit booking following recent volatility, while rising geopolitical tensions kept investors cautious. Except IT, energy, metal and realty, all other sectoral indices ended in the red. At the closing bell, the Sensex declined 171.72 points (0.22%) to 77,369.11, while the Nifty 50 fell 32.95 points (0.14%) to 24,219.05.

1. Urban Company rose 6.05% to Rs. 168.20, after Kent RO to pull down disparaging ads on native water purifiers.

2. Vishal Mega Mart surged 9.31% to Rs. 113.25, on announcement of MD & CEO re-appointment.

3. Caplin Point Laboratories declined 2.70% to Rs. 2,489.10, after arm receives form-485 with 10 observations from USFDA.

Global Signals-

Asian stock markets closed lower as investors remained cautious amid global growth concerns and uncertainty over interest rate expectations.

European markets traded mostly higher, supported by selective buying in major indices despite ongoing global economic uncertainty.
