Market report- Benchmark indices open higher

At 9:20 AM on August 28, the Sensex was up around 0.20% at 77,079, while the Nifty gained 24 points to 24,115.

Global Update

Asian equities traded cautiously on Friday despite the overnight rally in US technology stocks. MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan edged up 0.1%, while Japan's Nikkei gained 0.5%. Taiwan's benchmark index rose 1.2%, supported by renewed optimism around semiconductor and artificial intelligence stocks.

US markets ended higher on Thursday, led by technology shares after Nvidia's earnings and revenue forecast reinforced expectations that strong spending on artificial intelligence infrastructure will continue. Nvidia shares surged 8.7%, helping the Nasdaq Composite rise 1.57% to 26,541.35. The S&P 500 gained 0.72% to 7,730.99, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.20% to 53,569.44.
