Market report- Benchmark indices opened on a diverging path

Nifty, Sensex opened on a diverging path. Positive Asian markets and continued institutional buying supported sentiment.

At 9:20 AM on August 26, the Sensex was up by 245 points to trade at 77,901 while the Nifty was trading flat at 24,343

Global Update
Asian equities traded higher on Wednesday, supported by technology stocks and the easing in global bond yields. Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 1%, while the Shanghai Composite advanced 0.4%. Japan's Topix and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 were also marginally higher, although Nikkei 225 futures declined 0.4%

US equities ended higher on Tuesday as technology stocks recovered, while declines in crude oil and Treasury yields offered investors some relief following the recent bond-market selloff. The Nasdaq Composite gained 0.66% to 26,151.30, while the S&P 500 advanced 0.32% to 7,677.24. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.30% to 53,577.40.
