Indian stock markets maintained their gaining momentum during the afternoon session, driven by broad-based buying across sectors. Metal, IT, and banking stocks emerged as the key contributors to the rally, supporting gains in the benchmark indices. At 1.48 pm, Sensex rose by 0.98% or 803 points to 77,537. Nifty gained 1.03% or 232 points to 24,194.
