Market report- Cautious start for the Indian markets

Despite softer crude oil prices investors may remain cautious amid stronger-than-expected US inflation data and ongoing geopolitical tensions.

At 9:20 AM on August 27, the Sensex was trading flat at 77,491, while the Nifty was up about 0.14% at 24,238.

Rupee Check

The rupee opened marginally higher at 95.44 per US dollar, compared with Tuesday's close of 95.41.

Global Update

MSCI's Asia-Pacific equities gauge rose 0.3%, with semiconductor stocks leading the advance. South Korea's Kospi gained 1.1%, supported by stocks such as SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics, while Japan's Topix advanced 0.9%.

The positive reaction to Nvidia came after US stocks finished marginally lower in regular trading on Wednesday, as a hotter-than-expected inflation reading weighed on sentiment. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.21% to 53,463.88, while the S&P 500 slipped 0.02% to 7,675.70 and the Nasdaq Composite declined 0.08% to 26,130.20.
