The Company is part of the Vizag Profiles Group. The flag ship Company Vizag Profiles Limited was promoted by a likeminded group of young hard working Technocrat Entrepreneurs in Nov' 1997 with a total equity of Rs. 95 Lakhs and financial Assistance of Rs. 75 lacs. For the year ending 31st March 2004 it achieved a total turnover of Rs. 193.58 crores with a profit of Rs. 1.11 Crores. In February 1999 as part of diversification the Group ventured into Software and set up Pyxis Technology Solutions Private Limited a 100% EOU for development and Export of Software and related services with an equity of Rs. 40.26 lacs and financial assistance of Rs. 65 lacs. Pyxis went to public with an IPO in June 2000 by issuing 26,10,000 shares of Rs. 10 each at par aggregating Rs. 261.00 lacs and the total paid up capital of Company stood at Rs. 823 Lacs after the public issue. A part of the proceeds of the IPO was used for Expansion of Pyxis 2005 Steel Exchange India Ltd has entered into joint venture agreements with Mauritius Based "SVR International Coal Ltd" and formed new Company called "Steel Profiles (Mauritius)" 2012 Steel Exchange India Ltd has announced that 60 MW Captive Power Plant being set up by M/s. Simhadri Power Limited, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) promoted by the Company has successfully commissioned the CFBC boiler and turbines with present power generating capacity of 50 MW 2013 -"SEIL bags conversion order from RINL to roll out TMT bars". 2014 -Steel Exchange India Ltd has now allocated additional 15,000 SCMD (standard cubic metres per day) of gas to Steel Exchange India Limited (SEIL) for its Captive Power Plant at Kothapeta. 2015 -Steel Exchange India gets nod to acquire Lion Impex.2022-The Company has splits its face value from Rs. 10/- to Rs. 1/-. 2025-""Strategic Collaboration to Strengthen Multimodal Logistics Capabilities in Visakhapatnam"".
